Julia and Joseph are Hitched!

Julia and Joseph were married on April 18th at The Olhmsted. The afternoon, simply put, was beautiful. They hosted a wonderful group of family and friends, many of which traveled from England to join them for their special day. I feel truly honored to have been a part of such a wonderful day!!

Baby Ella's First Photo Session!

Baby Ella is now 8 weeks old and starting to develop quite a personality! She is now responding to hearing her name spoken and smiling at her oh-so-proud parents. She is so beautiful-- but don't take my word for it, see for yourself!!

May 2009: It's all about The Birds and The Bees!

I will be advertising in the upcoming May issue of Underwired Magazine. The theme is "The Birds and The Bees," so it goes along perfectly with my lifestyle maternity and baby portraiture. Make sure you pick up this month's copy, the "Vintage" issue and next month's "Birds and Bees" issue. Seriously, I LOVE this magazine and I know you will too!!

April 9th Parents Behind the Lens-- a few spots still available!

Parents behind the Lens is a workshop that I put on in order to teach parents to effectively use their cameras to capture all of those special moments when a professional isn’t around! I’ll talk about:

-Camera Basics
-Rules of Composition and Exposure
-Capturing Moments

We have 2 gracious volunteers for live mini-shoots, so you can practice what you learn as well! I will be available for a question and answer session for 30 minutes after the workshop.

The cost of the workshop is $50 and a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit The K.I.D.S. Center. So come out and learn to capture your family's special moments and contribute to a great cause!

Because class size is limited (so I can give individual attention as needed, an RSVP is required.) Your spot can be held with an RSVP.

Details

Date: Thursday, April 9, 2009
Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Location: The K.I.D.S. Center (part of the Kosair Campus) 982 Eastern Parkway, Louisville, KY
Cost: $50

Please contact me for more information at 502.609.1869 or jessica@voguevisions.com

See you there!!

My husband, the Triathlete

I am so incredibly proud of my husband Luke! He finished 5th in his age division at the triathlon in Shelbyville on Sunday. Unlike his first triathlon, he actually gave himself plenty of time to train and it paid off! The bike portion was extremely tough (pretty much up and down hills the whole way) but he pulled through. Now, he is preparing for the mini-marathon and another triathlon in Indianapolis in August.

Good job, babe!!

Alicia and David are Engaged!

Alicia and David are such a fun couple. We had an amazing time getting to know each other and shooting their engagement photos downtown. I even got to meet their daughter, Bailey, who joined us for the first part of the session. Isn't she a doll?!

Amy and Kevin are Hitched!

Amy and Kevin are such a fun, laid-back couple. They were married on Saturday, March 28th at Duncan Memorial and the reception was at The Henry Clay. Despite the call for bad weather, it was beautiful for their big day!

Ross Family Spring Photos

I had such a good time with the Ross's a couple of weeks ago shooting their family photos. Each family member has a unique personality that contributed to the success of the session, where we played in the backyard, blew some bubbles, read a couple of books, did some arts and crafts and rode bikes.

Dori, the mom and wife of this beautiful family, is actually our Bradley birthing instructor and is also a doula. If you are interested in natural birth, please let me know- I would love to share more information with you about the Bradley Method and the instructional classes that Dori teaches!

KIDS Center Walk and Roll Fundraiser

I am posting this to ask for your help. I work closely with an amazing nonprofit here in town that serves kids with disabilities. I've had the chance to spend time around these kids at events watching them do the every day work to push past their limits and discover their potential. The Center does great work, but needs your help because they turn no child away. In these tight times, that spirit of helping everyone means more now than ever. But they can only stay true to this vow with help from people like you.

I am raising money for the Center's WALK & ROLL for Kids event this May. I'd love for you to join me, walk, do your own online fundraising page, etc. But at a minimum I'd love for you to consider a small donation and ask that you send this email on to others that you know.

A friend of mine works at the Center because of an experience his daughter had. Below is a short video clip aired recently on WAVE3 that shares their story. THIS is why I walk. So kids like Sophia have a place to help them see their ABILITY.

Thanks for any help you can give. You can get to my web page at http://www.firstgiving.com/jessicapowell

Here are some images I shot last year of therapy sessions in progress at the center:

I recently completed some images for a website update for Whitney Bishop and Associates. They are a very unique company, specializing in Creative Meeting Facilitation, Leading Dynamic Workshops & Seminars and Engaging Keynote Speakers. The website is going to be awesome-- and it will be launched in the next few weeks. Until then, here are a few of the images that will be included. Enjoy!
