The Current Debate: Should the couple see each other before the ceremony or not?

I was speaking to a mother of the bride the other day and she was unsure if her daughter and her husband-to-be were going to see each other before the ceremony. In fact, she ask me if it was even allowed. Of course, I went through what I thought to be the pros and cons of each scenario. Ultimately, though, this a very personal decision to be made by the bride and groom and planned according to how they want to spend that first moment of laying eyes on each other. I came across an article that I thought might be helpful for some of my brides-to-be. Best of luck with your decisions! http://www.wedpix.com/articles/010/pre-wedding-ceremony-bride-and-groom/

Stacy & Ray's Wedding

Stacy and Ray had such a unique wedding yesterday afternoon. The ceremony and reception took place at their beautiful home in Oldham County on the Ohio River. Many guests arrived on boats, it was unlike any other wedding I have ever shot! They were married by the Justice of the Peace right on the river and it was just beautiful. With nearly 400 guests, the celebration began immediately, with plenty of food, drinks and dancing for everyone. What a great time!

Welcome Erica & Roger!

I would like to give a warm welcome to Erica and Roger, who are getting married March 15, 2008. They are just such a wonderful couple and so in love, I can't wait to shoot their engagement session! As a way of saying thank you to the bride and groom for booking their big day with Vogue Visions Photography, I include a complimentary engagement session with every wedding package. This allows us time to begin forming a relationship before the wedding, which always makes for better pictures. Erica & Roger have scheduled their engagement session for October 23rd, so the leaves should be turning colors by then and it is going to be absolutely beautiful!

Photography Checklist

I believe that every wedding is unique. Every bride wants to be seen through eyes that realize the beauty she beholds, the beauty in every detail. I offer the fashionably artistic, photojournalistic style that the modern bride desires. With a background in makeup artistry and drawing in various media, I have an eye for beauty and detail which few can compare to. By using a combination of the non-intrusive style of photojournalism along with some loosely guided posing, I am able to provide beautiful images that consistently exceed the expectations of my clients.

Before the Big Day
I attribute much of the success of my business to paying attention to details; not only while shooting, but also during the engagement session and planning sessions with the bride and groom. I provide a complimentary engagement session as well as planning sessions for the bride and groom free of charge, as this allows me to really get to know them and pick their brains. What shots are most important to them? Which of my past weddings are they most fond of and why? What is their vision for their day? After all, their images are the single most important thing that they are paying for in relation to the wedding. They are the only thing the couple will have to remember their day by; the most important tangible item they will take away from their day!

The Shot List

Keep in mind that the best photographs are often unstaged and unexpected. Although I do not work from a list during the day, it is very important that I am on the same page with the bride and groom; I want to have the same vision for their images. Often, I will go over a shot list ask which of these are most important to them during one of several planning sessions that I provide free of charge. I also welcome brides to drop by magazine tear-outs and pictures printed from the internet that catch their eye. Photographers often seek inspiration from others, so this is definitely not offense! Here is a preliminary list that I give to my brides to look over:

Baby Brooklyn

I had so much fun shooting the pictures of Jen & Kelly's 3 week old daughter, Brooklyn. She is just so beautiful and surprisingly very cooperative with the picture taking. :) Perhaps we have a future model on our hands?! Enjoy.

My New Computer, Among Other Things

I am so excited to finally have my new computer up and running! I runs so much faster than my old one, which means faster times in uploading and editing pictures. Plus, the best part is that I now have a 22" LCD flatscreen monitor--- FaBuLoUs!!

Since I didn't have a wedding to shoot this weekend, I decided to go out to my friend Jen's house to get some pictures of her 3 week old daughter, Brooklyn. She was very tolerant for the most part, although she did get a little irritated with me at one point. (Which actually translated into some really good pictures with her mouth wide open screaming!)I also made sure to get some pictures of her tiny little hands and feet:) Babies grow so quickly, so I am glad I got a chance to get out to take the pictures. I'll post a few of those images shortly...
Happy Weekend!

Tricia & Bob's Wedding

Tricia and Bob were married last week at Hurstbourne Country Club. I must say, I am quite sure that I will never shoot another wedding quite like theirs. In typical Tricia fashion, we were running extremely late for the formal pictures of the bride and groom before the ceremony. Although we planned an hour for the photos then a half hour of rest before the ceremony, we ended up with just thirty minutes leading up to the ceremony. So we were driving like mad on a golf cart to all of the locations they wanted pictures. I must admit that I was a little scared by Tricia's crazy driving, which reminded me more of off-road driving in a Jeep rather than cruising around on a golf cart! We managed to squeeze in all of the pictures and we didn't even keep the guests waiting that long! The sun was setting as they exchanged their vows in an intimate ceremony right there on the golf course. I couldn't have asked for a more picture perfect wedding!

Joy and Nick's Wedding

Oh my gosh, I cannot believe that I was getting emotional just editing Joy & Nick's pictures! Their wedding weekend was nothing less than perfect, everything just seemed to fall into place. Joy was such an amazingly beautiful bride I just couldn't stop staring at her! It was just such a pleasure being surrounded by an entirely Christian group of people who just loved and supported the bride and groom so much. I went away with a feeling of love just exploding from my heart! My husband had the honor of accompanying me to their West Virginia wedding and he was also overwhelmed with a feeling of love from this family. We were so glad to be a part of this day!
